The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has issued a stark warning regarding the escalating tensions in southern Lebanon and their severe implications, which could potentially lead to a regional war threatening the area’s security and stability, particularly amid ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza.
In a statement, the ministry’s spokesperson, Sufyan Qudah, emphasized the critical need to support Lebanon’s security, stability, and the safety of its people and institutions.
He stressed the importance of adhering to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 to prevent further escalation and to foster efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and protecting the region from sliding into a broader regional conflict.
Qudah also highlighted that the continued Israeli assault on Gaza, combined with the failure to reach a ceasefire agreement, exacerbates the risk of the conflict spreading regionally.
He called for a proactive international effort to immediately halt the aggression against Gaza and address the humanitarian crisis it is causing, ensuring the protection of the Palestinian people and the maintenance of regional and international security and stability.
Jordan has been closely monitoring the situation in southern Lebanon and Gaza, regions heavily affected by recent conflicts.
The ongoing violence in Gaza, coupled with tensions along Lebanon’s southern border, poses a significant threat to regional stability.
Jordan’s call for international intervention underscores the need for a concerted global effort to resolve the crisis and prevent further escalation.
