As part of her visit to the State of Qatar, Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, accompanied by Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti, met with Qatari Amir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The meeting involved in-depth discussions that included the exchange of perspectives and concluded with an official dinner, according to the Italian news agency Nova.
The Italian Prime Minister’s office highlighted that “the meeting provided an opportunity to enhance the excellent bilateral relations and the personal relationship with the State of Qatar.”
The discussions focused on bilateral issues, including investments, particularly in the defense sector.
They also addressed cooperation in combating illegal migration, following the Development and Migration Conference held in Rome on July 23.
During the meeting, the leaders also emphasized their partnership in the energy sector and important collaboration opportunities for their companies, especially Italy’s Eni, which has established a joint project with its Qatari counterpart, Qatar Energy.
The visit served as an occasion to exchange views on the major challenges in the region and continued with a subsequent meeting with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
