The Israeli military reported on Monday the death of a sergeant and injuries to eight other soldiers in conflicts occurring in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Army Radio stated that Sergeant Yuri Yitzhak Haddad of the Nahal Brigade was killed earlier today in Rafah, located in the southern sector of the strip.

Sergeant Haddad, 21, resided in Be’er Sheva, southern Israel, and served in the “Battalion 931” of the Nahal Brigade. Following his death, he was posthumously promoted from the rank of corporal to sergeant.

The army’s statement also noted that in the same incident, eight other Israeli soldiers were injured, three of whom are in critical condition.

This incident brings the total number of Israeli soldiers and officers killed since October 2023 to 671.
