The Israeli military commenced a new ground operation in the northern Gaza Strip, amid reports of Hamas attempting to rebuild its military infrastructure.
This comes as the Israeli Defense Forces disclosed their human losses since the outbreak of war on October 7, 2023, with Palestinian casualties in the region now reaching approximately 42,000 deaths.
On Sunday evening, Palestinian sources reported that an Israeli airstrike targeted a house in the Beach Camp in Gaza City, killing three Palestinians.
Local sources confirmed the deaths of a child and a woman among the victims and mentioned ongoing searches for others trapped under the rubble of the destroyed house.
Human Casualties Escalate Medical sources indicated that 68 individuals had been killed by Israeli airstrikes across various parts of the Gaza Strip since early Monday.
The Israeli forces’ ongoing assault, involving ground, naval, and air strikes since October 7, 2023, has resulted in 41,870 fatalities and 97,166 injuries, with a significant number of women and children affected.
Thousands more are missing under debris, as per reports from the Palestinian news agency WAFA.
On the anniversary of the October 7 attacks, the Israeli military highlighted its year-long military campaign against Gaza, stating that over 40,000 targets in the sector were hit. It also reported discovering 4,700 tunnel openings and destroying 1,000 rocket launch sites.
The military noted that 726 Israeli soldiers had died since the start of the conflict, with 380 killed in the initial campaign and an additional 346 in subsequent fighting inside Gaza since October 27, 2023.
Ongoing Ground Operation Details The Israeli military revealed that the 162nd Division initiated operations in the Jabaliya area following advanced intelligence and continuous situation assessments.
The operations have indicated the presence of militants and military infrastructure, with efforts by Hamas to restore damaged structures.
Combat teams from the 401 and 460 Brigades have surrounded the area to continue operations against military infrastructures in Jabaliya, attacking dozens of targets including infrastructure and rocket launch sites.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Red Crescent has suspended its operations in northern Gaza, according to reports.
