The Israeli army announced on Friday that it had conducted a raid on Thursday resulting in the killing of Radwan Radwan, identified as the head of the Jabalia al-Nazla police station and the leader of the aid security committee in northern Gaza. According to the army, Radwan was allegedly the Hamas internal security official in the Jabalia area.

In a statement, the Israeli army stated that an air force unit, in collaboration with the Gaza Division and the General Security Service (Shin Bet), carried out the operation that led to the death of Radwan Muhammad Abdullah Radwan, described as the internal security official linked with Hamas in the Jabalia region. The army further asserted that Radwan was a member of Hamas’s military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades.

The army also claimed to have “eliminated” Hamed Muhammad Ali Ahmed, identified as “a commander in the Hamas military wing” responsible for internal security operations in Jabalia, along with another member of Hamas from the Jabalia Brigade.

No response from the Hamas group regarding the Israeli allegations has been reported.

Medical sources confirmed on Thursday that the head of the Jabalia al-Nazla police station and head of the committee for securing aid in the northern Gaza Strip was killed due to an Israeli airstrike targeting his residence.

The incident occurs amid an ongoing Israeli military offensive on the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7, resulting in numerous casualties. The conflict has claimed the lives of more than 33,600 Palestinians in Gaza since its onset.

Israel’s blockade on Gaza has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, particularly affecting the residents of northern Gaza, who are reportedly facing starvation. The conflict has displaced 85% of Gaza’s population internally, exacerbating shortages of essential resources such as food, water, and medicine. Additionally, significant damage to infrastructure has been reported.

Israel faces accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which has called on the nation to take action to prevent famine in Gaza.
