The Israeli army reported on Saturday that its forces killed two individuals in separate incidents in the occupied West Bank. One of the individuals had infiltrated an Israeli settlement, while the other opened fire on soldiers after his car exploded.
The Israeli ambulance service stated that two men were shot in the incidents but did not specify their identities. No Palestinian comment has been made so far, according to Reuters.
The army stated, “Terrorists attempted to run over a security guard at the entrance of the Karmi Tzur settlement shortly before infiltrating the settlement.” It added that soldiers who arrived at the scene killed one of the attackers who fired at them and are searching for others.
In another incident, the army reported that a car caught fire and exploded at a gas station. The forces sent to the scene “shot and killed the terrorist who exited the vehicle and attempted to attack them.”
The army said it is too early to determine whether the two incidents are related.
Violence in the West Bank has escalated recently, which had already been on the rise before the war in Gaza, with intensified Israeli military raids and settler violence against Palestinians.
