The Israeli army announced, Early on Sunday, it had detected dozens of shells fired from Lebanon into Israeli territory.
The Israeli military stated, “Following the alarm sirens between 00:30 and 00:31 in the area of Kiryat Shmona, around 30 projectiles coming from Lebanon towards Israeli territory were detected.”
The statement added, “Some of the projectiles were intercepted, while others fell in the area.”
The statement continued, “The Israeli army is currently bombarding targets belonging to the terrorist organization Hezbollah in the Beirut area.”
The Israeli army issued a series of warnings to residents of the southern suburb in Beirut, the most recent being for those in several buildings in Burj al-Barajneh, Liliky, and Haret Hreik.
The Israeli air force conducted five airstrikes on south Beirut, including four “very violent” raids on the southern suburb, a main stronghold of Hezbollah.
Since September 23, Israel has been executing a continuous bombing campaign across large areas of Lebanon, targeting infrastructure and facilities it claims belong to Hezbollah.
On Saturday evening, Hezbollah released a statement detailing the losses the Israeli army has suffered since the beginning of its ground operation in southern Lebanon villages.
In its statement, Hezbollah claimed, “Over the past few days, since the Israeli enemy army announced the start of its ground operation towards villages in southern Lebanon, the resistance has counted more than 25 officers and soldiers killed among the enemy’s elite forces and more than 130 wounded.”
