The Israeli military announced on Tuesday that it had bombed a Hezbollah military complex in Baalbek.
The targeted complex belongs to Unit 4400, which the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claim is responsible for smuggling weapons to and from Lebanon.
In a statement on Telegram, the IDF reported conducting airstrikes on targets in Aitaroun, southern Lebanon, including a military site and two Hezbollah buildings. The strikes were in response to the downing of an Israeli drone over Lebanon yesterday.
Hezbollah had announced on Monday that it had shot down an Israeli Hermes 900 drone armed with missiles.
According to a statement by the militant group, its members had ambushed the drone in Lebanese airspace and successfully targeted and downed it.
Since October 8, 2023, a day after the eruption of conflict in the Gaza Strip, Hezbollah and Israel have been exchanging fire across the Lebanese-Israeli border almost daily.
The escalation has resulted in the deaths of at least 462 people in Lebanon, including around 300 Hezbollah fighters and approximately 90 civilians.
On the Israeli side, the clashes have led to the deaths of 15 soldiers and 11 civilians.
The Lebanese-Israeli border has been a flashpoint for conflict for decades, with Hezbollah and Israeli forces frequently exchanging hostilities.
The recent surge in violence coincides with broader regional tensions, particularly the renewed conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
In the early hours of Monday, approximately 20 Palestinians were killed due to continuous Israeli airstrikes targeting various regions of the Gaza Strip, with a significant focus on Rafah and Khan Younis in the south.
Following these attacks, the army retreated from eastern Deir al-Balah, allowing the recovery of bodies amid warnings of critical shortages of medicines and fuel affecting the lives of the injured.
