Israeli media reported today, Monday, that the Israeli army stormed the city of Jenin for the first time in four weeks, arresting individuals “belonging to the Hamas movement.”
According to the Israeli channel (Kan): “The army stormed Jenin this morning and arrested Hamas activists. The arrest took place in the city, not in the camp, and there was an exchange of gunfire there.”
In this context, the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) reported that a special unit of the Israeli army arrested two young men from the city of Jenin on Monday morning.
The special units re-arrested the freed prisoner Fathi Mohammed Atoum, and Rabie Badr Al-Sanouri from the city of Jenin, after sneaking into the city, it added.
The report also stated that confrontations erupted with Israeli forces in the Al-Marah neighborhood, the Eastern District, and the city center.
The Israeli army had carried out a large military operation in the city of Jenin and its camp earlier in July, resulting in the deaths of 12 Palestinians and approximately 200 others injured.
