The Israeli military announced on Friday that it successfully killed Mohammad Rashid Sakafi, the head of Hezbollah’s communications network, in a precision strike in Beirut on Thursday.
According to the military, Sakafi had overseen Hezbollah’s communications since 2000 and played a key role in developing communication capabilities across the group’s various units.
Israel has recently intensified its airstrikes on Beirut and its surrounding areas, targeting Hezbollah officials and infrastructure.
The escalation comes as part of Israel’s broader campaign against Hezbollah, which began after the group launched rocket attacks in support of Hamas on October 8, 2023, sparking ongoing clashes and retaliatory Israeli airstrikes in southeastern Lebanon.
