Israel Says Flights Resume At Ben Gurion Airport After Lebanon Strikes

Israel’s Civil Aviation Authority announced the resumption of flight operations at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, following a temporary suspension earlier on Sunday due to military actions.

Flights were delayed as the Israeli military launched extensive strikes targeting Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

Roy Steinmetz, a spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority, confirmed that operations at Ben Gurion Airport resumed at 4:00 GMT, including both departures and arrivals.

He noted that flights diverted to other airports would return to Ben Gurion.

On the military front, Israel’s Defense Forces spokesperson Daniel Hagari stated on Sunday morning that the army continues to thwart planned attacks by Hezbollah.

“We are eliminating threats to the Israeli home front. Dozens of aircraft are now targeting various locations in southern Lebanon,” Hagari said during a press conference.

He further detailed that Hezbollah has been launching rockets and unmanned drones at Israel, with Israeli air defense systems, naval vessels, and air force planes working to protect the nation’s airspace and intercept threats.

Lebanese media reported that the Israeli airstrikes were intense and targeted several towns in the south of the country, including Tyre Harfa, Shamaa, Tel Aramz, Deir Syriani, the Highlands of the District, Beit Yahoun, Zebqin, Yatar, and Haddatha.

Hezbollah announced that it has launched over 320 Katyusha rockets targeting 11 Israeli military locations.

The Lebanese militant group confirmed that this barrage was aimed at various Israeli strongholds including bases and garrisons in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, such as Meiron Base, Navi Ziv Garrison, and Za’atoun Base among others.

The statement from Hezbollah emphasized that this initial phase successfully facilitated the passage of assault drones towards deeper strategic targets within Israel.

Following this rocket assault, Hezbollah initiated a substantial aerial attack with numerous drones aimed at a high-value military target inside Israel.

This move came after the Israeli military conducted preemptive strikes against several towns in Southern Lebanon earlier on the same day, targeting areas including Harsh Kounin and Beit Yahoun.
