Israeli forces stormed the Al Jazeera office in Ramallah, located in the West Bank, early on Sunday, ordering its closure for 45 days under a military directive.
The move comes as part of escalating tensions in the region.
Al Jazeera reported that Israeli soldiers informed the office’s director, Walid Al-Omari, of a judicial order mandating the closure of the news channel’s office.
Following the raid, Israeli troops forced the news team out of the building and confiscated the office’s equipment.
In a live broadcast, the channel showed armed Israeli soldiers entering the office and delivering the closure order. The Israeli forces instructed the team to turn off all cameras and vacate the premises immediately.
Trucks arrived at the office to seize broadcasting and filming equipment, as well as official documents. The military also prohibited the Al Jazeera team from retrieving their personal belongings or vehicles from the site.
Israeli authorities have accused the Al Jazeera office in Ramallah of inciting terrorism, a claim the channel strongly denies. This development is part of broader efforts by Israel to control media coverage in the Palestinian territories amidst ongoing conflicts.
