According to the Jerusalem Post, on Sunday, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant conducted a situation assessment with the new Central Command Chief, Major General Avi Blot, and other senior defense officials, focusing on terrorism in the West Bank.
The Defense Ministry stated that Gallant reviewed the military’s activities aimed at thwarting terrorist attacks, eliminating armed groups in refugee camps, and enhancing security in the settlements.
Gallant remarked, “Terrorism is intensifying in Judea and Samaria, partly due to directives from Iran and Hezbollah.”
He added, “Months ago, I removed restrictions on the operations of Israeli Air Force aircraft, including attacks in the Central Command to thwart terrorism without needlessly endangering soldiers – and if necessary, we will expand this.”
The West Bank, under limited self-rule by the internationally recognized Palestinian Authority but occupied by Israel, is experiencing its worst unrest in decades, alongside the war in Gaza controlled by Hamas.
