Israeli Transport Minister Miri Regev held an emergency meeting to discuss the potential threat of Houthi strikes on strategic and vital facilities linked to her ministry in Israel, in response to Israeli airstrikes on the Port of Hodeidah in Yemen.
Channel 14 reported that the meeting called on train, port, and airport companies to prepare for all possible scenarios.
Representatives from Israel’s strategic institutions attended the meeting, reflecting growing concerns that the Houthis might target critical infrastructure following the Israeli military’s attack on the western Yemeni port.
During the meeting, an urgent assessment of the situation was conducted. Minister Regev emphasized the need for institutions to be prepared for potential Houthi retaliation and to enhance operations to ensure the continuity of the Ministry of Transport and its associated companies in case the threats materialize.
Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari stated that Air Force jets had targeted the Port of Hodeidah in Yemen “in response to Houthi attacks over the past nine months.”
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthi forces, declared that they would “respond to this blatant aggression” and would not hesitate to strike Israel’s vital targets, labelling the occupied area of Jaffa as an unsafe zone.
A responsible source in the Yemeni government has strongly condemned the Israeli entity’s aggression and its violation of Yemeni sovereignty, in clear defiance of all international laws and norms.
The source held the Israeli entity fully responsible for any consequences resulting from its airstrikes, including the exacerbation of the humanitarian crisis already worsened by Houthi militias’ terrorist attacks on oil facilities and international shipping routes.
These actions also bolster the militias’ position and their misleading propaganda narratives.
The source renewed his warning to the Houthi terrorist militias against continuing to mortgage Yemen’s fate and its people’s lives for their futile battles serving Iranian regime interests and its expansionist project in the region.
