In the latest development in the ongoing conflict in the region, Israeli occupation forces have taken the drastic step of closing off all access routes to the Old City and the revered Al-Aqsa Mosque.
This move adds to the tensions that have been escalating in the region, particularly in the wake of the recent Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.
The conflict, which has been ongoing since October 7th, has resulted in a devastating toll, with thousands of Palestinians killed and tens of thousands injured.
Additionally, widespread destruction of buildings and infrastructure has been reported, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region.
Amidst this turmoil, the healthcare system in the Gaza Strip is facing an unprecedented crisis. The ambulance service, which plays a critical role in providing emergency medical care, is on the verge of collapse due to targeted attacks by Israeli forces.
Shockingly, around 108 ambulance vehicles have been destroyed in these attacks, severely limiting the ability to provide medical assistance to those in need.
Furthermore, out of the 36 hospitals in the region, only 11 are currently operational, further straining an already overburdened healthcare system.
As tensions continue to rise and the humanitarian situation deteriorates, the closure of access routes to the Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli occupation forces represents a concerning escalation in the conflict.
This move not only restricts freedom of movement for Palestinians but also raises serious concerns about the protection of religious sites and the right to worship freely.
The international community is closely monitoring the situation, calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
