Iraqi armed factions have announced an attack on a vital site in Eilat, a city located in southern Israel.
This announcement was made today by the news channel Al-Hadath, which reported that the attack was carried out using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones.
In their statement, the factions claimed, “Our fighters attacked a vital target in the occupied territory of Eilat.”
This attack marks an escalation in tensions in the region, particularly following a previous declaration by the same factions on Saturday, in which they reported targeting three critical sites in northern Israel using several drones.
The announcement of the drone attack is part of a broader pattern of escalating tensions between various armed factions in Iraq and Israel.
The relationship between Iraq and Israel has been historically strained, with Iraq being a vocal opponent of Israeli policies and actions, especially concerning Palestinian territories.
In recent years, Iraq has seen the rise of various armed groups that are allied with Iran and operate under the umbrella of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), a coalition of militias.
These groups have often expressed their intent to retaliate against Israel for its actions in the region, particularly against Iranian interests and allies.
