In a significant diplomatic move, Iraqi President Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid landed in the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria today, Friday.

Subsequently, the two leaders inspected a guard of honor, marking the commencement of Rashid’s official visit.
This visit comes in response to an official invitation from President Tebboune to participate in the 7th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
It highlights the growing diplomatic and economic ties between Iraq and Algeria, particularly in the energy sector, which is vital for both nations’ economies.
Accompanying President Rashid is a high-level government delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil Dr. Hayan Abdul Ghani, Member of Parliament and Member of the Parliamentary Energy Committee Adnan Ashour Adnan, Head of the Presidential Experts and Advisors Authority Dr. Ali Al-Shukri, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed Hussein Bahr Al-Ulum, and the Head of the Kurdistan Regional Government Representation Fares Issa, along with several officials and advisors.
This visit underscores the significance of the GECF Summit as a platform for discussing critical issues related to natural gas production and export, fostering cooperation among member countries, and addressing global energy challenges.
It also emphasizes the strategic importance of Iraq and Algeria within the global energy landscape and their role in promoting stability and development in the region.
