The International Court of Justice, a branch of the United Nations, rejected a plea from Nicaragua on Tuesday, urging Germany to cease its aid to Israel and renew funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in Gaza.
The court stated that the legal conditions required to issue such an order were not fulfilled.
During the hearings on the matter, Germany clarified that it had provided very minimal weaponry to Israel since the onset of the Gaza conflict in October.
Germany welcomed the court’s decision. In a statement on its “X” platform, the German Foreign Ministry affirmed, “No one is above the law. This principle guides our actions.”
