Hamas announced on Saturday the death of its leader Said Ata Allah Ali and three of his family members in an Israeli airstrike on his home in the Badawi camp in northern Lebanon. Lebanese media earlier reported that four people were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a residential apartment in the Badawi camp in Tripoli, northern Lebanon.

Last Monday, Hamas mourned its leader in Lebanon and a member of its leadership abroad, Fathi Sharif Abu Al-Amin, who was killed along with some family members in an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon. Prior to the announcement of Abu Al-Amin’s death, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine had announced the death of three of its members in an Israeli strike on Beirut.

On January 2, 2024, Saleh Al-Arouri, the Deputy Head of the Political Bureau of Hamas, was killed in a strike attributed to Israel in the southern suburbs of Beirut. Hezbollah and Israel have been exchanging fire across the border since the outbreak of the war in Gaza, which erupted following a Hamas attack on Israeli towns on October 7.

Israel has intensified its attacks on Hezbollah recently, stating that the purpose of these attacks is to secure the return of residents to the northern areas, resulting in the death of many of the group’s leaders, including the Secretary-General of the party, Hassan Nasrallah. The southern suburbs of Beirut were subjected to 12 Israeli airstrikes on Saturday morning, according to the Lebanese news agency.

Hezbollah disclosed details related to the operations it carried out against the Israeli army since Saturday dawn, stating in a statement that its fighters targeted a gathering of Israeli soldiers in Kafr Giladi, Kafr Yuval, and Khalat Abeer in Yaroun with a missile salvo. In another statement, the party said it targeted an Israeli infantry force attempting to advance towards the vicinity of the municipality in the town of Adaisseh, noting that “the clashes are ongoing.” On Friday evening, Hezbollah announced that it had carried out 23 operations targeting the Israeli army and its positions, confirming direct and precise hits.
