Mark Michael Antsey, Ghana’s Ambassador to Libya, has expressed his country’s willingness to establish a consulate in Benghazi.

This development signifies a significant step in strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Ghana and Libya.

During a meeting with Sami Fathallah Bourjea, Director of the Protocol Department at Libya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antsey praised the ongoing reconstruction, stability, and security improvements in eastern Libya.

The meeting took place on Saturday at the Ministry’s headquarters in Benghazi.

The discussion centered around the status of the Ghanaian community in Libya, exploring ways to enhance bilateral relations, and expanding cooperation in various sectors.

The establishment of a consulate in Benghazi would not only facilitate better support for Ghanaian nationals but also open new avenues for collaborative efforts between the two nations.

This potential consulate marks a pivotal moment in the diplomatic relationship between Ghana and Libya, reflecting both countries’ commitment to fostering closer ties and mutual support.
