Munich, Germany, will host a major consultative conference on August 12, bringing together Sudanese civil society groups opposed to the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

The conference aims to form a broad coalition to halt the violence and address the crisis.

Sami Suleiman Hassan Taher, Director of the German-Sudanese Center for Peace and Development in Munich, announced that invitations have been extended to a range of Sudanese civil forces, political parties, trade unions, resistance committees, national figures, and groups affiliated with the “Taqaddum” movement.

Notably, Abdullah Hamdok, former Prime Minister of Sudan and head of the Taqaddum Coordination, will also participate.

The crisis in Sudan has escalated significantly in recent months, with severe conflict and humanitarian issues impacting the country.

The violence stems from ongoing political instability and clashes between rival factions, leading to widespread suffering and displacement of civilians.

The Munich conference represents a crucial step in mobilizing international support and fostering dialogue among various Sudanese stakeholders.

By creating a unified front, the conference seeks to address the root causes of the conflict and develop a comprehensive strategy for peace.

Germany has played an active role in supporting peace and development initiatives in Sudan. The German-Sudanese Center for Peace and Development, along with other international partners, aims to facilitate dialogue and cooperation to resolve the crisis.

This conference underscores the global commitment to resolving the Sudanese conflict and restoring stability to the region.
