The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza has reported a dramatic rise in casualties due to ongoing Israeli airstrikes, with the death toll now reaching 40,139 and over 92,743 injuries since October 7.
Recent attacks have resulted in the deaths of 40 individuals and injuries to 134 more in the past 24 hours.
The situation remains dire on the 318th day of the conflict, with many victims still trapped under rubble and inaccessible to emergency and civil defense teams.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has also announced that 207 of its staff members have been killed since the conflict began.
These staff members, including engineers, teachers, and medical personnel, were all engaged in humanitarian efforts.
The agency has emphasized the need for accountability and highlighted its role as the largest provider of primary healthcare in Gaza, offering more than half of the region’s health services.
Despite the severe conditions, 85 UNRWA medical points and nine health centers continue to operate out of the 26 originally available.
The agency has called for the protection of healthcare workers and facilities to ensure they can continue their critical work.
