Palestinian health authorities announced on Wednesday that the death toll from the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 7, 2023, has risen to 39,445, with 91,073 injured.

The sources stated that the Israeli occupation committed massacres in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, resulting in 45 deaths and 77 injuries. Thousands of bodies remain under the rubble and on the streets, as Israeli forces prevent ambulance and civil defense teams from reaching them.

A previous report had indicated 39,400 Palestinians killed and 90,996 injured due to the continuous Israeli aggression, which has led to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and displaced over 85% of Gaza’s population, equivalent to 1.9 million people.

Since October 7, 2023, the humanitarian situation in Gaza has deteriorated significantly due to the ongoing conflict between Israeli forces and Palestinian groups. The conflict began with a surprise attack by Hamas on southern Israel, resulting in over 1,200 Israeli deaths and numerous hostages taken. This prompted a severe Israeli military response, including extensive airstrikes on Gaza.

The humanitarian crisis has reached catastrophic levels, with significant shortages of food, water, shelter, and medical supplies. Over 1.9 million people have been displaced, and many are living in dire conditions without basic necessities. Health facilities and infrastructure have been severely damaged, exacerbating the crisis. The UN and various humanitarian organizations have reported significant impediments to aid delivery due to ongoing hostilities and restricted access to affected areas.

International calls for a ceasefire have emphasized the urgent need to address the humanitarian needs and protect civilians. Despite some aid reaching Gaza through the Rafah border crossing with Egypt, it remains insufficient to meet the needs of the population. The situation is further complicated by political dynamics and ongoing violence, making the delivery of sustained humanitarian relief challenging.
