This morning, a fire broke out at one of the largest thermal power stations in southwestern Russia’s Rostov region, causing two electricity units to stop working and a brief disruption in supplies to customers, according to the governor of Rostov region.

Governor Vasily Golubev stated via the messaging app Telegram that the fire at the Novocherkassk power station in Rostov region was extinguished without any injuries. He noted that authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, as reported by Reuters.

Later, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that its forces destroyed 11 drones launched by Ukraine over the Rostov region near the border with Ukraine. However, it did not mention if any damage occurred as a result.

However, the Baza news channel on Telegram, closely linked to Russian law enforcement authorities, stated that the fire at the power station was caused by Ukrainian drones.
