European allies have delivered Ukraine almost 224,000 artillery rounds and 2,300 missiles, according to Ukrinform.

“[EU] Member states have delivered around 223,800 artillery ammunition — long-range self-propelled, precision-guided ammunitions as well as mortar ammunitions — and 2,300 missiles of all types,” EU spokesman Peter Stano said, Euractiv reports.

Overall, the total value of the ordnance provided was 1.1 billion euros, the EU said.

As noted, the new figure for artillery ammunition sent was just a small advance on the number — 220,000 shells — announced by EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell in late May.

As reported, the EU approved the quick supply of 1 million ammunition to Ukraine. To achieve this goal, the EU countries agreed to allocate 1 billion euros from the European Peace Facility to compensate EU countries for the supply of existing ammunition, and another 1 billion euros to increase the capabilities of the European defense industry in the production of artillery rounds both to send them to Ukraine and to replenish arsenals in EU countries.
