Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has revealed a significant trade corridor project, a global trade artery, connecting Turkey with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates through Iraq.
Erdogan stated, “We are collaborating with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Iraq to establish a major trade route, a global trade artery, linking our countries. It will extend from these nations to Basra in southern Iraq, traverse Iraq, and reach Turkey.”
He added, “We aim to take rapid and substantial steps in this project in the near future.”
Erdogan met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman today on the sidelines of the 18th summit of the G20 leaders, currently being held in the Indian capital, New Delhi. During the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries and regional and international issues were discussed.
In a related context, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced on Sunday the signing of a memorandum of understanding regarding a new economic corridor project that will connect India, the Middle East, and Europe.
The announcement of a major trade corridor project by President Erdogan signifies Turkey’s commitment to expanding its economic ties with the Middle East and strengthening its trade relations with key partners in the region. The project aims to facilitate the movement of goods and boost economic cooperation among Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Iraq.
This initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance regional connectivity and promote trade and investment. The proposed trade route passing through Iraq is strategically significant, as it can serve as a conduit for goods traveling between Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, fostering economic growth and cooperation.
President Erdogan’s meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman underscores the importance of diplomatic relations in advancing economic projects and regional stability. The memorandum of understanding signed by the Saudi Crown Prince for a new economic corridor emphasizes the commitment of the participating countries to fostering economic development and connectivity on a global scale.
