Egyptian football has been dealt another significant setback, casting a shadow over several clubs during the transfer period.
According to Al-Watan newspaper, FIFA has updated its list of teams globally that are currently banned from registering new players, including eight clubs from Egypt’s league.
FIFA confirmed that these Egyptian football teams are prohibited from player registration due to 17 pending cases against them.
The official statement from FIFA lists the affected football clubs: Zamalek, Misr El-Makasa, Eastern Company, El Masry, Modern Future, Border Guard, Future Stars, and Ismaily.
Zamalek, in particular, received an unpleasant surprise with three cases pending against it.
One of these cases could prevent the club from registering players for three consecutive periods, complicating their plans to sign new players for the upcoming season.
The two other cases remain unresolved. FIFA has stated that lifting the bans depends on the settlement of outstanding payments and fines.
The specifics of the cases involving the bans include five cases against Misr El-Makasa, four against Eastern Company, and one each against the remaining clubs.
Notably, Zamalek faces a three-period registration ban due to a dispute with Portuguese Rui Aguas, former assistant to coach Jesualdo Ferreira, as well as two other ongoing cases yet to be decided.
This development poses a significant challenge to the clubs involved, impacting their abilities to strengthen their squads and potentially affecting their performances in upcoming competitions.
