Egypt has reiterated its commitment to achieving security and stability across Africa, expressing readiness to participate in combating terrorism in various countries on the continent through a “comprehensive approach.” This stance was emphasized during meetings between Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, and several African foreign ministers on the sidelines of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) in Japan.

During a meeting with Benin’s Foreign Minister Olusegun Adjadi Bakari, Dr. Abdel Aty discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest, including the evolving security and developmental challenges in the Sahel and West Africa. The Egyptian minister also highlighted Egypt’s efforts to address the situations in Gaza, Sudan, and Libya.

Minister Bakari expressed Benin’s desire to strengthen cooperation with Egypt across various fields and to benefit from Egyptian expertise. Dr. Abdel Aty reaffirmed Egypt’s readiness to share its counter-terrorism experience with Benin through a holistic approach that includes security, development, and combating extremist ideologies. The two ministers agreed on the importance of maintaining consultation and coordination on regional and international issues of concern to African nations within international and regional forums.
