Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, discussed with the Egyptian consul nominated for the position in Port Sudan, how to alleviate the humanitarian and health situation in Sudan.
Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Health, stated in a press release that the Deputy Prime Minister, along with the Minister Plenipotentiary Ahmed Youssef, who is nominated as the Consul General in Port Sudan, explored contributions to alleviating the situation faced by the Sudanese people amid the current crisis. They focused on intensive efforts to contain the situation in Sudan through organizing medical convoys directed to Northern Sudan to support some Sudanese hospitals.
The spokesperson further explained that these medical convoys would include mobile clinics accompanied by significant quantities of medicines and medical supplies to meet the treatment needs of the region’s residents. These convoys and clinics will be led by skilled and experienced medical staff, aiming to provide high-quality and prompt health services.
Additionally, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized Egypt’s commitment to continuing to offer necessary preventive services to the people of Sudan during their current crisis, underscoring the ministry’s role in providing medical examinations and vaccinations for children under 15 years old, and combating disease carriers at border crossings since the onset of the events in Sudan.
Abdel Ghaffar also highlighted that the meeting covered the humanitarian and health assistance that Egypt is keen to provide to the brotherly Sudanese people until they safely overcome their crisis, along with the emergency and ambulance services being offered.
