The Egyptian Chess Federation (ECF) will organize the 2023 World Cadet Chess Championships in the sea-side resort city of Sharm El Sheikh on October 14-27.
Around 2,000 players from more than 100 countries are expected to compete in the World Chess Federation’s (FIDE) mind sport event.
Thanks to its leading position in the region, Egypt has won the right to host the World Chess Championship for the first time in ECF history, President of the ECF and director of the global tournament Hisham El Gendy said in press statements on Saturday.
National Federations can register one invited player in each category: under 8, 10, and 12 (Open and Girls), he added, revealing that over 60 Egyptian players are expected to compete.
