Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for the Palestinian Authority, emphasizing the country’s strong opposition to any plans for the displacement of Palestinians from their land.
Abdelatty stressed that Egypt, in its communications with key international actors, continues to advocate for the delivery of humanitarian and relief aid to Gaza, despite the obstacles imposed by the Israeli military. He pointed to Israel’s control over the Palestinian side of the Rafah border crossing, which hampers the work of UN humanitarian organizations and restricts the movement of individuals through the crossing.
During his meeting with a delegation from the Fatah movement, led by Deputy Head of Fatah Mahmoud Al-Aloul, National Council Chairman Rouhi Fattouh, and Executive Committee Member Azzam Al-Ahmad, Abdelatty underscored the importance of opposing any attempts to separate the West Bank from Gaza, reaffirming Egypt’s stance on the unity of Palestinian land.
Tamim Khalaf, spokesperson for Egypt’s Foreign Ministry, noted that Abdelatty briefed the delegation on Egypt’s efforts to halt the war in Gaza, secure a ceasefire, and facilitate the exchange of prisoners and detainees.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister also highlighted Egypt’s initiatives to rally international support for the recognition of the State of Palestine. He reiterated Egypt’s vision for a fair and permanent resolution to the Palestinian cause, centered on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of Palestinian unity and called for strengthening the role of the Palestinian Authority to ensure the realization of the Palestinian people’s aspirations and hopes.
