The spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, said that Egyptians have empathized with the challenges Syria has faced in recent years and highlighted the historical and deep-rooted relations between the two nations.

Speaking in a televised interview regarding President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s meetings with President Bashar al-Assad, Fahmy underscored that Egypt’s interest in Syria lies in the restoration of Syrian state security, stability, and the well-being of its people.

He further stressed that Egypt’s clear stance is in favor of a comprehensive Syrian settlement that preserves its institutions and rejects external interference that could undermine national unity and cohesion.

The recent meeting between President al-Assad and President el-Sisi in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on the sidelines of the emergency Arab-Islamic summit on Palestine, provided an opportunity to discuss bilateral relations and the current situation in Gaza.
Egypt’s commitment to supporting Syria’s stability aligns with its broader diplomatic efforts to promote peace and security in the region. The Egyptian government recognizes the significance of a stable and cohesive Syria for the overall stability of the Arab world.

As Syria continues to grapple with the aftermath of years of conflict, Egypt’s stance reflects its dedication to achieving a lasting and inclusive solution that benefits both the Syrian people and the region as a whole.

Egypt’s role in advocating for Syrian stability and unity underscores its commitment to the principles of sovereignty, non-interference, and the preservation of Arab nations’ unity.
