Egyptian media quoted Egypt’s representative at the United Nations Security Council, Osama Abdel Khalek, as saying that Israel aims to “manipulate” facts and hold Egypt and the United Nations responsible for the failure to deliver aid to Gaza.
According to Cairo News and Extra News channels, Abdel Khalek described the events in Palestinian Rafah yesterday, Monday, as a “humanitarian crime,” holding the international community responsible for it.
Speaking at a session of the Council on the situation in Palestine, Egypt’s permanent representative emphasized that Israel’s control over the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing made it impossible to resume humanitarian work.
Egypt’s delegate affirmed that the continuation of the Israeli military operation in southern Gaza’s Rafah is “rejected.”
Abdel Khalek pointed out in his speech that the situation in Gaza “has reached the level of famine.”
On the other hand, the US Central Command announced today, Tuesday, the delivery of more than 569 metric tons of humanitarian aid so far via the temporary maritime dock for the Gaza Strip.
In a statement on Facebook, they added that the aid aims to “increase distribution operations by humanitarian partners.”
The statement noted that the aid is provided by the United States, Britain, the UAE, the European Union, “and many other partners.”
