The displacement crisis in southern Lebanon worsens as the number of displaced people surges due to the Israeli bombardment implementing a scorched-earth policy.

According to the National News Agency reported on Sunday, the crisis is escalating with the increase in displaced individuals as the Israeli forces continue their scorched-earth tactics, targeting civilians, inhabited homes, and threatening residents, ambulances, and journalists.

The Lebanese agency noted that several bordering villages have become almost deserted, with the attacks causing significant damage to properties, crops, and infrastructure, especially to the electricity and water networks.

The report highlighted that the western and central sectors experienced a tense and cautious night, marked by the launch of flares and the overflight of enemy reconnaissance aircraft over the districts of Tyre and Bint Jbeil.

It was also mentioned that the Israeli enemy resorted to heavy machine-gun fire towards the outskirts of the town of Aita al-Shaab from their positions adjacent to the town of Barakat Risha in the early hours.

Lebanon has requested the United Nations Security Council to exert pressure on Israel to halt the escalation and take all necessary measures to stop Israeli aggressions on its territory and people.

This request aims to prevent the conflict from worsening and dragging the entire region into a comprehensive and uncontrollable war.

The Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that Nasser Medical Center in Khan Younis, Gaza, has been rendered out of service after a week-long siege followed by continuous airstrikes.

The WHO’s director stated that approximately 200 patients were at the Nasser compound, 20 of whom required referral to other hospitals.

He also noted that the occupying forces prevented the WHO’s medical team from assessing the patients’ conditions and medical needs.

This development comes as the occupation continues its aggression for the 135th day in the Gaza Strip, launching strikes on various parts of the region.
