Blinken Thanks Saudi Arabia for Response Over US Consulate Shooting

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had a conversation with Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, where he expressed his appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s support during the recent shooting incident outside the US Consulate General in Jeddah.

Blinken also thanked the Saudi diplomat for their ongoing assistance in safeguarding US diplomatic missions.

The incident occurred on Wednesday when an individual approached the US diplomatic facility in a car and brandished a firearm.

Saudi security forces promptly responded and took necessary action to handle the situation.

A confrontation between the assailant and the security forces ensued, resulting in the death of the attacker.

Tragically, a Nepalese worker employed at the US Consulate sustained injuries during the exchange of gunfire and later succumbed to them.

Authorities are currently conducting investigations to ascertain the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident.
