During an official visit to Morocco, Bahraini Parliament Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam met with Moroccan Parliament Speaker Rachid Talbi El Alami to discuss ways to coordinate their positions in international parliamentary forums.
The meeting also focused on activating friendship committees, enhancing bilateral cooperation, and exchanging successful experiences in parliamentary and legislative work between the two countries’ parliaments and their general secretariats.
According to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), both sides affirmed their commitment to supporting and strengthening bilateral cooperation, building on the historically strong relations between Bahrain and Morocco under the leadership of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain and King Mohammed VI of Morocco.
Al-Musallam reiterated Bahrain’s unwavering support for Morocco, emphasizing the decision to open a Bahraini consulate in the Moroccan city of Laayoune as a testament to Moroccan sovereignty and the robust Bahraini-Moroccan relations.
He praised the attendance of Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch at the Arab Summit meetings held in Bahrain.
Al-Musallam also commended the parliamentary relations and levels of mutual coordination between Bahrain and Morocco, highlighting Morocco’s commendable stances towards Bahrain.
He emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation in developmental areas, particularly in the economic and investment sectors, as well as boosting trade exchange and food security for the benefit of both countries and their peoples.
For his part, El Alami expressed his appreciation for King Hamad bin Isa’s efforts in supporting joint Arab action and achieving security and peace in the region.
He noted the outstanding success of Bahrain’s presidency of the 33rd Arab Summit and the significant recommendations and resolutions that emerged from it.
El Alami confirmed Morocco’s support for Bahrain’s initiative to host an international peace conference in the region and its steadfast backing of the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
El Alami also lauded Bahrain’s consistent positions in supporting Morocco and defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
