Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune signed a presidential decree to ratify the agreement between Algeria and Saudi Arabia for the establishment of the Algerian-Saudi High Coordination Council.

This accord was formalized during the visit of Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf to the Kingdom. He headed the proceedings of the fourth session of the Algerian-Saudi Political Consultation Committee.

Meanwhile, the establishment of this council aims to fortify bilateral relations between both countries across various sectors, abiding by the principles of equality and mutual benefits.

The deal was officially signed in Jeddah on 16 May 2023.

Last month, Saudi Arabia offered condolences to Algeria over victims of wildfires that left more than 30 people dead and forced mass evacuations.

The Kingdom shared its sympathy through a foreign ministry statement issued, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
