The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed on Thursday that it continues to closely follow the developments in the case of the tragic and brutal death of the young man Nael in France.
Nael, a 17-year-old of Algerian descent, was killed on Tuesday near Paris at close range during a routine police check.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Algeria was shocked and dismayed by the brutal and tragic death of the young man and the alarming circumstances surrounding the incident.
The same source added that Algeria expresses its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased and assures them that everyone in our country shares their grief and pain.
Algeria also affirmed its confidence that the French government will fulfill its duty to provide complete protection, in line with its commitment to maintaining peace and security for our citizens in the host country where they reside.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted Algeria’s permanent commitment to stand by the national community in times of hardship and adversity.
The French Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on Thursday that the police officer who killed Nael has been charged with intentional homicide and has been placed in custody.
