The eagerly anticipated Asian Champions League (ACL) semi-final first leg match between Al-Ain from the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal has been postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions, as announced by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) on Tuesday.
Originally slated to take place later on Tuesday in Al Ain, UAE, the match will now be rescheduled for Wednesday following heavy rainfall and thunderstorms that swept across the country.
In response to the adverse weather, UAE authorities issued advisories urging residents to remain indoors for their safety. Reflecting these concerns, the AFC emphasized the importance of prioritizing the well-being of all involved parties.
“The UAE Football Association has suspended all football activities for Tuesday, keeping in view the safety of all fans, players, and stakeholders,” stated the AFC in an official release.
The decision underscores the significance of safety precautions amid unpredictable weather patterns, prioritizing the welfare of players, fans, and officials alike. With the match rescheduled, anticipation mounts as both teams prepare to vie for victory under more favorable conditions.
