In a significant development, the Wall Street Journal has reported that Western countries are actively engaged in formulating a peace deal aimed at resolving the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, with the prospect of both Moscow and Kyiv rejecting the proposed agreement.
“The West’s hopes that the Ukrainian attack will force Russia to negotiate have faded. Western officials are working to prepare a deal that ends the war, which is not in line with the goals of Kyiv and Moscow,” The paper highlighted.
The main objective of Ukraine, as stated by the newspaper, is the restoration of its territories—a goal that appears unlikely due to concerns among its Western allies about the potential “costs and risks” associated with such an endeavor.
This move towards a potential peace agreement reflects the intricate balance of interests among all parties involved.
While the road to a comprehensive resolution remains uncertain, the willingness to engage in dialogue and negotiation remains a pivotal step toward fostering stability in the region.
