The Eastern Military Zone of the Jordanian Armed Forces successfully conducted an operation early Saturday, intercepting a major drug smuggling attempt from Syrian territory. This action aligns with the consistent efforts of the Jordanian armed forces to maintain national security, protect its borders, and uphold their duty towards the nation.
An official military source from the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces stated, “Border Guard forces, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department and military security agencies, detected an attempt by a group of smugglers to illegally cross the border from Syria into Jordan. Immediate patrols were mobilized, and engagement rules led to direct fire, resulting in injuries among the smugglers, while others fled back into Syrian territory.”
Following extensive search operations in the area, forces discovered 63,000 Captagon pills and 588 hashish slabs. The confiscated items have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further action.
The military source reaffirmed the commitment of the Jordanian Armed Forces, emphasizing their unwavering resolve to deal with any threats along the border and counter attempts to destabilize the country or harm its citizens.
