The United Arab Emirates (UAE) voiced its concerns over the escalating situation in Tripoli, urging all parties to de-escalate, halt hostilities, and seek peaceful dialogue to resolve their differences.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the UAE’s Minister of State, Khalifa Shaheen Almarar, emphasized the importance of safeguarding civilians, government buildings, and properties. He also called for utmost restraint to navigate the current crisis.

Reiterating the UAE’s stance on the Libyan conflict, the statement highlighted the country’s unwavering support for preserving the security, stability, and unity of Libya. This is in line with the road map outcomes, the decisions of the United Nations Security Council, and the ceasefire agreement, ensuring the success of the upcoming elections and fulfilling the aspirations of the Libyan people for development, stability, and prosperity.

The situation in Tripoli worsened after armed clashes erupted between the Deterrence Force and the 444 Combat Brigade on Monday. This conflict arose following the Deterrence Force’s detention of the commander of the 444 Brigade, Mahmoud Hamza, at Mitiga Airport as he was en route to attend a graduation ceremony in Misrata.
