Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani, asserted on Monday that the world is profoundly indebted to the sacrifices of the Iraqis in their relentless combat against ISIS, emphasizing that the terror didn’t target Iraq alone.
During a meeting with security leaders who participated in the war against ISIS, Al-Sudani pointed out the pivotal significance of liberating Mosul. “At a time when many anticipated the ascendance of the so-called ‘Caliphate’ and the downfall of the Iraqi state, it became clear that the entire world owes a monumental debt to the sacrifices made by the Iraqis in this battle,” he remarked. He elaborated that the sinister designs of ISIS weren’t merely confined to Iraq, but rather a broader conspiracy to destabilize the entire region.
Al-Sudani further highlighted, “The perverted ideology of ISIS, hatched in secretive circles, was intended to dominate the region. However, the unwavering stance of the religious authority, embodied by His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Ali Al-Sistani, coupled with the sacrifices of the Iraqi people, thwarted the malevolent ISIS plot.”
Al-Sudani continued with a note of pride, “We have every right to take immense pride in the sacrifices of all Iraqis, which undermined the ISIS conspiracy. We solemnly and respectfully remember all the martyrs, starting with the victorious leaders.”
He concluded by stressing, “Our battle against this terrorist group was fundamentally a clash between truth and falsehood. The world has recognized that the Iraqis symbolize the truth, while ISIS epitomizes absolute falsehood.”
