In a significant boost to Jordan’s tourism sector, preliminary data from the Central Bank reveals a robust growth in tourism revenue. July 2023 alone experienced a 19.4% increase from the same month in the previous year, amounting to a whopping 554.5 million JD ($782.1 million).

A deeper dive into the numbers shows that in the initial seven months of 2023, tourism revenue skyrocketed by 50.1%, hitting an impressive 3.004.8 billion JD ($4,238.0 million). This robust performance is attributed to the rising number of tourists visiting Jordan. The country welcomed an estimated 3,720.2 thousand visitors, marking a growth rate of 51.3%.

Breaking down the figures, overnight tourists, those who stay for at least one night in the country, contributed significantly to these numbers. The number of overnight tourists swelled to 3,085.1 thousand, reflecting a growth rate of 47.0%. On the other hand, the day-trippers, those who visit for just a day, saw an even steeper rise. Their numbers grew by an astounding 76.2%, reaching 635.1 thousand.

This surge in both overnight stays and day visits underscores the allure of Jordan as a prime tourist destination. Whether for short visits or extended stays, travelers are increasingly drawn to the nation’s rich heritage, landscapes, and cultural offerings.
