Six Syrian soldiers were killed and seven others were wounded in an Israeli missile attack near the Syrian capital, Damascus, early on Monday.
The state news agency, SANA, reported that the attack caused some material damage, targeting points in the vicinity of Damascus, but did not provide specific details. Syrian air defenses intercepted some of the Israeli missiles and shot them down, according to a military source.
The Israeli military has not issued a comment regarding the incident.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a war monitor, documented two additional fighters’ deaths, belonging to non-Syrian militias aligned with Damascus, in the same strikes. However, the nationalities of these two fatalities have not been confirmed. Among the targeted sites were warehouses near Damascus airport.
