In a pivotal move aimed at fostering commercial and economic connections, Egypt and Russia have penned a memorandum of understanding (MoU). This collaboration involves the authorities of Russia’s Tula region and the Egyptian Exporters Association.

The MoU signing took place on the sidelines of the “Russia-Africa” summit, recently hosted in Russia’s city of Saint Petersburg.

Anton Emelianenko, the Minister of Economic Development in the Tula region, weighed in on the agreement, noting, “This significant pact is the culmination and continuation of the work we undertook during our Egyptian visit in March 2023.”

He continued, “The MoU enables the Tula region to understand the intricacies of the Egyptian market better, implement various training programs, and procure export certificates for our companies more straightforwardly and without hindrance. We value this agreement immensely as it lays a robust foundation for our future endeavors and heightens our trade level.”

Ahmed Taha, the Executive Director of the Egyptian Exporters Association, praised the newly-signed memorandum’s importance. He outlined the agreement’s intent to bolster cooperation between Russia and Egypt, specifically with the Tula region, in bilateral trade.

Taha also mentioned that, under this agreement, Tula region personnel would receive training to increase their competency in exports and their familiarity with the Egyptian market.

Saint Petersburg played host to the “Russia-Africa” summit on the 27th and 28th of July, signifying a concerted effort to elevate strategic relationships between Russia and African nations.
