As clashes continue between Israeli forces and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, with ongoing Israeli airstrikes targeting various areas, especially in the Bekaa Valley (east), the Israeli army announced that its forces had struck Hezbollah’s infrastructure.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Israeli army added that its forces engaged face-to-face with dozens of Hezbollah fighters, killing them. The air force also destroyed Hezbollah’s infrastructure, and Israeli forces found several weapons in southern Lebanon.
“230 Targets”
The statement further noted that the Israeli army attacked around 230 targets in Gaza and Lebanon in the past 24 hours. Approximately 200 of these were in southern and central Lebanon, including anti-tank missile sites and surface-to-surface rocket launchers.
Regarding Gaza, the Israeli 162nd Division continues operations in the Jabalia area, while the Gaza Division and the 252nd Division continue their activities in central and southern Gaza.
Southern Clashes
In response, Hezbollah announced that it had launched a rocket salvo targeting the Kiryat Shmona settlement in northern Israel earlier today. Hezbollah also claimed to have engaged an Israeli infantry force attempting to infiltrate the outskirts of the town of Rmaich from the east, with clashes still ongoing.
These developments occur as Israeli airstrikes continue to hit various regions in southern Lebanon, the Bekaa, and the north. For the first time on Monday, airstrikes reached the northern town of Ayto, killing 21 people. Meanwhile, evacuations were underway in the Zahrani area, approximately 40 kilometers from the border, where thousands of Lebanese still reside.
Hezbollah also launched rockets targeting Karmiel and Ramot Naftali in Israel. Additionally, Israeli airstrikes hit areas between the towns of Qusayba and Adchit, as well as the region between Qaaqaia Bridge and Kfar Djal in the Nabatieh District. The strikes also targeted areas near the European Exhibition on the Habboush-Nabatieh highway.
In the Bekaa, Israeli air forces have maintained a fire belt around the area since yesterday morning, with intense airstrikes hitting the southern entrance of Baalbek, causing severe damage to buildings, shops, and institutions, including the Al-Murtadha Hospital, which was rendered out of service. A house on the outskirts of Baalbek was also destroyed, and residents reported a foul smell, potentially due to toxic materials used during the bombing.
The airstrikes in the Baalbek district also targeted the towns of Dours and Shaat, while drones were seen hovering over the area. Since September 23, Israel has intensified its airstrikes across Lebanon, particularly in the south and the southern suburbs of Beirut, leading to the deaths of more than 1,200 civilians and injuring around 10,000 others. Approximately 1.2 million Lebanese have been displaced since the clashes between Israel and Hezbollah began on October 8, 2023, which Hezbollah referred to as “support for Gaza.”
