On Monday, Hezbollah announced it had carried out a “precision” missile strike on the Stella Maris naval base near Haifa in northern Israel, following a drone attack on a training base that killed at least four soldiers.
The militant group stated that this action was a response to ongoing “aggressions against our people” and threatened further attacks if Israel continued its operations.
Hezbollah also targeted Israeli soldiers within the border town of Maroun al-Ras in southern Lebanon, where Israel has been conducting “limited” ground operations since late September.
The group claimed to have hit an Israeli military gathering in southern Maroun al-Ras with artillery shells, following previous statements of engaging Israeli soldiers and thwarting “infiltration attempts” at various border locations.
Earlier reports from Al Arabiya and Al Hadath correspondents noted rocket fire towards Haifa and its surroundings.
The Israeli military confirmed detecting a rocket launched from Lebanon towards Haifa, which landed in an open area, while Hezbollah claimed it targeted an Israeli force attempting to infiltrate southern Lebanon.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese National News Agency reported a series of airstrikes on the towns of Yehmur al-Shaqif and Maaroub in southern Lebanon.
Israel’s Channel 12 reported that rockets fired from Lebanon towards the Galilee were intercepted, with some falling in open areas.
Our correspondent also reported intense clashes between Hezbollah elements and the Israeli military in the southern Lebanese area of Markaba.
Additional attempts by Israeli military units to penetrate areas including Labouneh and Khallet al-Tuffah were met with resistance from Hezbollah, who used rockets and heavy weaponry according to their statement following the clashes.
