The Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee held discussions on Wednesday with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, focusing on strengthening efforts to officially recognize the State of Palestine. The committee emphasized the importance of achieving Palestinian rights through the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital.

The meeting, chaired by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, took place on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly in New York. Other attendees included high-level representatives from Qatar, Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, Bahrain, Turkey, Indonesia, the Arab League, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Discussions also addressed the ongoing escalation in Gaza and the continued Israeli military aggression against civilians. The committee reiterated the unified Arab and Islamic stance, calling for an immediate and complete ceasefire and emphasizing the need to protect civilians in accordance with international humanitarian law.
