Israel’s UN Representative Dani Danon stated that while Israel does not seek a large-scale war in the Middle East, it intends to continue eliminating the threat posed by the Lebanese Hezbollah. During a United Nations Security Council meeting on Middle East developments, Danon said, “Israel is conducting precise strikes in Lebanon against Hezbollah’s command centers, rocket launch sites, and weapon depots, including its leadership.”

Danon added, “We will take all necessary measures in accordance with international law to eliminate this threat. At the same time, Israel does not aspire to a large-scale war.”

He also publicly accused Iran of being “a spider at the center of a network of violence.”

“We must fight this network of violence, and there will be no peace in the region until this threat is eradicated,” he continued.

Since Monday morning, the Israeli military has been conducting raids in various parts of southern Lebanon and deeper territories, targeting locations claimed to be associated with Hezbollah. These have resulted in over 600 civilian deaths and nearly 2,000 injuries, according to statistics from the Lebanese Health Ministry.

These developments come as battles continue in southern Lebanon between Hezbollah and the Israeli military for more than 11 months following Hezbollah’s declaration of opening a front in support of Gaza. Operations are expanding daily along the border from Ras Naqoura to the Shebaa Farms.

Tensions escalated between the two sides after Lebanon witnessed two consecutive attacks on September 17 and 18, which targeted a large number of wireless communication devices, resulting in 37 deaths and approximately 3,000 injuries, according to official statements.
